CHAPARRAL TEACHES

Salam (Peace) children;
Lesson number 2 from the mighty Chaparral:
"I have seen generations of humans come and go this way, just as you have seen generations of insects come to life, build a home, have a family, and die in a 24 hour time span. To a few million year old rock the human life span is even less than a 24 hour period."

Care my children that you do not become attached to anything of the world of matter (in any way!), for in a short time you'll have to leave it all and be gone!

Outstanding insight into the what nature, and more specifically the chaparral, can offer to us if we step outside of our own heads and listen. Unlike many other native ecosystems, chaparral does not have much of a fan club due to the fact that it is so under appreciated and misunderstood. Consequently it is frequently demonized, especially in California, due to its ability to create quite a firestorm. The problem there isn't the chaparral, but the activities of humans pushing into a landscape they do not understand.

Thanks so much for your insight into what is really important.
