When You Become The Rain
When you become rain, don’t ask who’s house it is The roof of the shrine and the mosque and the tavern are one When you become rain, don’t count the vessels Glass or the bowl and the cup are one Oh Rain! You come from God! Explain wise one, Cleverness and wisdom of the simple are one Since all must become the dust beneath his feet The mighty Lion, the Camel, the Tiger and the Butterfly, are one When you cry to THAT ONE, from the depth of your being, The chants of the monks, prayers of the devout and the screams of the drunken ones, Are all one! From the powers of THE ONE, no matter how much is used In its creative Force, Mighty Hercules and the Ant are one! Understand This and you see God Do not understand, The place of worship And the Tavern are ONE! (Rumi)
